This sumptuous little pillow is made from a fragment of a Maonan hilltribe wedding blanket. The blanket was hand woven in cotton and silk, and the colours are natural. It dates to mid C20 and in some places the silk has worn to expose the terracotta coloured ground textile. The silk weaving is a supplementary weft, so any wear is superficial. I've backed the cushion with a vintage hand loomed textile, in a blue stripe. The tassels is vintage  and i think works beautifully with the rich colours on the pillow. The pillow is filled with Provencal lavender selected for its long lasting scent.
