Item Description

These cushions are made from a vintage Indian phulkari from Punjab, India. The thick handspun and handwoven cotton khaddar is coloured a gorgeous madder red and the embroidery is in pale yellow, gold, orange, ochre and pale green floss silks. Phulkari means floral work and these textiles were originally made for a bride's trousseau by her mother and grandmother. This phulkari has an attractive grid pattern divided by a single line of pale green floss silk. I've piped the edges and backed the cushions with a vintage hemp dyed madder red which works beautifully.
There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
