An early 19th century gilded wall / overmantle mirror. The frame to this early period mirror has a neat inverted thumbnail pattern to the wide carved wood base complemented by a row of small gilded spheres to the side uprights and top. The earthy gilded surface has immense character and charm with age related wear to the original gilding allowing the rich bole basecoat to show through. It is set upon the original grey painted back surround. Although two centuries old this charismatic wall mirror would fit perfectly within contemporary surroundings. Original backboards. Later glass. Period French gilded mirror circa 1820.
