A mid century French sunburst mirror of super scale proportions. This impressive statement sunburst mirror really does have the wow factor and is certainly one of the largest we’ve had in the past forty years!
The large original mirror plate is encircled by a decorative gilded border with evenly spaced criss cross design together with a mass of carved wood sunny rays in the form of gilded Prince of Wales feathers. The original gilding has mellowed to a gorgeous golden colour with a naturally patinated surface from decades of use only enhancing its already stunning appearance. The original mirror plate does have a little foxing as one would expect all in keeping with its history and age. Its scale is such that it would work perfectly as a large circular overmantle mirror. Prince of Wales feather sunburst mirror.
