A magnificent 19th century carved wood cornucopia. Two silver leaf horns overflowing with plentiful bunches of grapes on vine with gilded leaves. The silvered horns are supported by scrolling gilded shells rising from a shaped wooden platform. The original painted colours have faded and worn over the past century, but the grapes still visibly purple, the silver and gold leaf beautifully patinated. A highly decorative, fascinating sculpture which could easily stand alone or suitable for use as a coffee table base.
Re enforced safety glass has been supplied for the table top. Italy circa 1880.
