Item Details

A beautiful 19th century wall mirror in the 18th century style of Robert Adam. The large oval mirror has an elegant frame with a raised acanthus leaf design. The top is surmounted with decorative scrolling acanthus leaves tied within a gilded band, the same decoration repeated on the underside. The gilding has faded and worn in places revealing the natural gesso base colours harmonising beautifully with the traces of gold leaf. A highly decorative, atmospheric mirror. Good original bevelled mirror plate.
