Item Details

A late 19th century oval gilded wall mirror. The original oval “fish eye” deep convex mirror is in good condition, set within an oval gilded frame with a continuous row of gilded gesso beads and contrasting hand painted band of cream. The top is surmounted with a decorative gilded eagle upon a banner of laurel leaves, the same leaf design being repeated to the base of the frame. The glided surface has worn a little in places revealing the rich terracotta coloured base coat beneath creating a warm contrast of colours. Oval convex wall mirror circa 1890.
