Item Details

A late 19th century Swedish bench in original paint. This beautifully atmospheric bench really is a statement piece. It boasts the most evocative original painted surface time worn from over a century of use creating its own unique character. The graceful serpentine top sits above a series of wide wooden slats with carved vernacular heart detail to the centre. Two side uprights with finial tops support the shaped arms above four substantial legs, the front legs being united by a low swept apron. The bench does have some historical repairs which truly add to its history and charm. It comes together with the bonus of a long bespoke cushion within a removable natural linen cover. Painted wooden bench circa 1880.
