Item Details

A highly decorative pair of early 19th century vertical carved wood swags. Each swag boasts an impressive cornucopia of grapes on vine, apples, pears and peaches entwined with cascading flowers and leaves.
The original gold and silver gilding has lessened over the past two centuries but still plentiful. The absence of some of the gilding has revealed the seasoned hand carved pine beneath which has mellowed to a deep rich colour with a naturally patinated surface creating a wonderfully atmospheric appearance. English carved wood swags circa 1820.
