Item Details

A Beech and Elm captains chair of unexpectedly small proportions. This interesting chair would have been hand assembled in the late 19th century for somebody presumably of a slender build. The top curved back rest is supported by a series of turned Beech bobbin spindles rising from the solid Elm seat all supported by four bulbous turned beech legs. The original stained finish has perfectly worn in all the right places revealing the beautifully seasoned, patinated timber beneath. English Beech and Elm Captains chair circa 1880.
