Item Details

This pretty miroir de mariage may possibly have been a gift to a young couple in the mid 19th century on the occasion of their wedding as these iconic mirrors so often were. The original mirror plate is framed within a beaded giltwood border which sits upon a painted moss green background. The mirror boasts the most flamboyant crest above which includes a plain oval mirror in miniature, this being supported with gilded tassels and foliate swags surmounted with a gilt wood ribbon. French wall mirror circa 1860.
