Item Details

A superb example of French commode chest of drawers from the mid 19th century. The original grey marble top holds a mass of flecks and veining within and sits neatly on the sturdy carcass, four substantial oak lined drawers are housed within. The top drawer is wide and slender with three deeper drawers below. Each drawer fits perfectly within the carcass and runs with ease. The most exquisite walnut veneers have been used for the drawer fronts with a uniform book matched pattern repeating itself. A key is supplied for each drawer for opening. The commode sides are deep and wide with pretty swirling veneers.
Raised on low concave walnut feet. Gorgeous golden brown with a richly polished surface. French walnut commode circa 1860.
