Matched set of 10 Kai Kristiansen rosewood and leather chairs Model 42
The Model 42 chair produced by Danish makers Schou Andersen is one of the most sought after Mid-Century dining chair designs for good reason ! They’re not only very stylish and a recognisable design but also they’re exceedingly comfortable as the leather backs are designed to swivel slightly which is a feature that we can’t remember seeing on any other chair. Kai Kristiansen was probably the most successful Danish chair designer of his time and also designed many other iconic pieces in the 1960’s.
We bought these lovely chairs together but the previous owner must have bought a set of 6 and a set of 4 as 6 were in leather and 4 in vinyl. We’ve had them all cleaned and re-polished. Our upholsterer has re-upholstered them all in good quality black leather from Crest Leathers. The solid rosewood frames have a lovely grain and are in great condition.
All in all a lovely set that now match perfectly. It’s really hard to find sets of 8 or more chairs so we’re not prepared to split them.
