1960’s Cirrus glass bowl by Bertil Vallien for Boda Afors


This lovely bowl has controlled bubble decoration in white opal and clear glass. It’s large compared with other pieces from this range that we’ve found online.


It retains it’s 1960’s Boda label as well as being engraved Boda Afors B Vallien to the underside. It’s got a polished pontil as you’d expect.


Bertil Vallien is probably the most important glass designer/artist of hi generation. He joined the small glassworks of Afors in 1963 just before they merged in the following year with the larger Boda and Kosta. In 1976 they fully linked up to become Kosta Boda, but prior to this the Boda Afors and Boda names were used on their own.


It's about 23.75cms in diameter and 10.25cms in height


Condition:


A great piece in really good condition with no obvious damage. We’ve shown it with a pair of small vases from the same series which we also have.


This is Swedish glass blowing at it’s best as the flared form combined with controlled bubbles and the opalescence of the colouring will have been hard to produce and taken true craftsmanship.
