https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/pure-imagination1960’s Walnut and copper Swedish mirror by Froseke
Probably designed by Sigurd Göransson as he designed a range of lovely oak chests with leather handles we’ve had by the same maker. We’ve had the same design before in rosewood with chrome insets, and we think this is nicer.
In the 1960’s in Sweden it was popular to have a small low chest in a hallway with a large mirror hanging above. In Denmark it would have been a similarly small chest, but with a much smaller mirror hanging above, whilst in Holland it was often a hanging hat and coatrack ! Froseke seem to have specialised in hall chests and mirrors.
A nice simple design, a good size and beautifully made. They don’t appear for sale very often possibly because the Mid-Century look was not anywhere near as popular as it was in Denmark. Swedes were much more likely to buy more traditional furniture as a percentage of the population than Danes !
Condition
The wood frame has been cleaned and oiled and the copper polished. No obvious marks or damage that we could see. As with all vintage furniture you may see very small signs of wear if you look very closely.
