8 Model 42 Kai Kristiansen teak dining chairs
The iconic Model 42 by Kai Kristiansen is one of the smartest and most comfortable Mid Century dining chairs you’ll find so no wonder it’s so popular today. The upholstered back rest swivels slightly to give extra comfort a feature that you’ll not see on any other chair of the time that we can think of seeing. Made by the small quality Danish maker Schou Andersen, it’s known to many just as Model 42. They were sold at the time for dining as well as desk chairs or side chairs.
Most people back in the 1950’s and 60’s only bought sets of 4 or 6 chairs so it’s rare to find a set of 8 or more. We already had a pair which came with some other good Mid Century furniture when we had the chance to buy a set of 6, so now we are able to offer a lovely matched set of 8.
Condition
The teak frames have been cleaned and oiled, so that they fully match in colour. The upholstery has been completely replaced and redone by our in-house upholsterer. They’ve been upholstered in a really smart new range of fabrics by Camira called Monochrome Sett which we think is not only practical and smart but will also work with most colour schemes.

As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear to the teak if you look very closely.
