https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/pure-imaginationArchie Shine Hamilton dining table by Robert Heritage 10 seater
Part of Robert Heritage’s pioneering Hamilton dining suite made by the fairly small up market maker Archie Shine . We also have the matching sideboard which when launched in 1957 was ground-breaking as it was the first long low sideboard to be offered in the UK . It’s easy to design a standard dining table , but to come up with an elegant and practical one takes a lot more skill , and here we have one that is impressive , stylish and stands out from the crowd . It easily seats 6 when un-extended , but then add in the small leaves that are stored under the top and you can add 4 more if required as the overhanging top then leaves just enough room to take a chair to each side and will give just enough space to take a chair at each end .,
Archie Shine was well known in the furniture trade as he was a larger than life character who was a trained cabinet maker in his own right so made sure that he only employed highly skilled craftsmen with traditional training . He was also known for choosing the best veneers for his pieces even though this added to the costs and thus selling price .
The top is rosewood framed in mahogany or afrormosia with the same wood used for the legs and under-structure . We don’t think that the top is removable so please check doorways which will need to be about 73cms or wider to take it in on it’s side , or if slightly less you’ll need plenty of space behind the door to swivel 2 legs around then swivel the top and other 2 legs through .
Un-extended 182cms x 90cms max . Each leaf adds just over 30cms taking it to a max of 242.5cms , Height 72cms.
Condition
Fully cleaned and oiled by our in-house time served furniture restorer . No obvious marks or scratches , but as with all vintage furniture you must expect to find some minor signs of wear if you look very closely .
