Item Details

An oil painting on board by Deborah Spencer entitled ” Below Stairs ”. Probably painted in the 1960’s in original stylish contemporary frame. Signed and with an exhibition label with price of £22-00 so post 1971 UK decimilisation. In today’s money £22 is about £300 taking inflation into account since the early 1970’s.


We can find no information about the artist, but we think it’s a striking decorative image and an unusual subject by a competent unknown artist.


If you haven’t seen the Julie Walters sketch of the elderly waitress called ” 2 soups ” you should look it up as one it’s very funny and two you’d think it was based on this painting !!
