Cado 3 bay hanging teak wall system


Poul Cadovius designed a number of different wall mounted systems, but its mainly this one or his Royal System which hangs on metal supports. The cabinets and chests are supported on clever dowels which slot into the upright supports whereas the shelves hang on lovely teak angled supports which also fix in with dowels. One of these is shown in the photos. The deeper the shelf the larger the supports. It’s a very elegant stylish design.


We have recently sourced this 3 bay set in an auction as well as 2 smaller sets from the family of the original owner. We have added 3 shelves to make the nicest layouts for each as the set as it came was in need of more shelves and the smaller sets had too many !


This one has a 3 drawer chest, a sliding cupboard and a fall front cocktail cabinet. All are 80cms wide, 43cms high and 38cms deep. Then there 3 shelves which are 30cms deep and 3 that are 22cms deep.


The upright supports are 158cms which seems to have been a standard height and as the 2 bay set we have from another source is the same. They can be fixed at various heights above a skirting board to suit your room. Ladderax ladders are mainly 201cms as a comparison. Total width with upright supports 243.5cms, each shelf and cabinet is 80cms but the uprights project a little to each side.


Condition


Fully cleaned and oiled with no obvious marks or damage. As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely.


Notes


These can obviously be fixed onto solid loadbearing walls but can also be fixed to stud walls. Stud panels are usually 40cms wide so the uprights can be fixed to alternate battens which is how we’ve fixed this one to the stud wall of our photography area.
