Chinese gouache Fish Market scene framed in Hong Kong


This stylised scene of a Chinese fish market took our eye so we added it to our collection. The only clue to it’s age is that it has a Hong Kong framers label to the reverse. The style of the framing is from the 1980’s or 1990’s. We found the framers online with a different longer telephone number, but the same address, unfortunately the email listed didn’t work. It may be that the length of the telephone number would help with the dating?


Condition
It was described as being Mid-Century in date when we bought it in auction but it’s really hard to date. We’ve priced it accordingly as an unusual decorative image.


The image size is 68cms x 45cms, the frame size is 81.5cms x 59cms.
