Danish teak desk chair designed by Harbo Sølvsten c 1955


A lovely chair that would have been made in small numbers at the time as this model rarely comes up for sale . In solid teak with contrasting rosewood feet it’s beautifully made as you’d expect . The use of a darker wood for the feet was a feature of a number of quality pieces in the late 1950’s and would have added to the production costs and thus the selling price at the time .


Harbo Sølvsten is one of many talented Danish designers of the time who is only known for a few designs today . It’s incredible how a country of Denmark’s size produced so many really good designers in the 1950’s and 60’s .


It was re-upholstered about 10 years ago with a different seat cushion which we’ve now replaced . We have another of these chairs available if you are looking for a pair .

Condition
The wood has been cleaned and oiled and is looking great . As with all vintage pieces you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely .
