Large William and Mary style wing armchair


A really impressive top quality armchair on walnut legs with beautiful shaping to the wings. Dating either to the late 1930’s or early 1950’s this would have been an extremely expensive chair when new. There were still makers of high end reproduction furniture such as Rackstraw producing chairs of this quality in the mid 1950’s. Today you have to look to makers such as George Smith to get anywhere near this quality and still not find anything as ornate in form even for 3 or 4 times the price of this amazing chair.


Re-upholstered for the previous owner at some point in an expensive fabric which is in good vintage condition.


The seat cushion is feather filled.
