Kerttu Kuikanmaki pastel drawing dated 1955


The Finnish born artist Kerttu Kuikanmaki ( 1928-2014 ) is little known and her works rarely come up for sale possibly because she married or went into teaching. Amazingly this is the 2nd work we’ve had by her as you’ll find so little on the internet, also amazingly this also has fish as it’s theme whereas others online don’t ! She moved to Stockholm in 1954 and this striking pastel was painted the following year.


We love the vivid colouring and the striking composition.


We’re calling it ” Fish Market ”. The previous work we had from 1957 is shown in a couple of the photos.
