Monumental French 19th Century flame mahogany cheval mirror


Not only is it about 30cms taller than any others we could find it’s also considerably wider as most are around 90cms wide . It’s so large that we couldn’t use our photography area to take photos . We’d be surprised if you can find another as large and as impressive as this amazing piece .


In the French Palladian style it dates to around 1840-1850 . The flame mahogany veneers that have been used are better than usual , and the carving is as crisp as you’ll see . It was definitely made for a very grand interior and is a statement piece .


It comes apart for ease of transport , but the mirror and columns are still very heavy . It does need to be screwed into a wall at the top for stability , and has appropriate metal fittings attached .


The mahogany is a lovely rich original colour .


Condition
Some small veneer knocks if you look closely mainly on the top , so not visible from ground level
