Rare 1960’s group of Upsala Ekeby Ringo vases and bowl by Mari Simmulson


This lovely design was only made from 1965 to 1967. The vases came in 4 sizes and the dish in 2 sizes. They were sold either with orange or lemon dots round the rim. The mix of glazed and unglazed finish was a speciality of Upsala Ekeby of Sweden. Mari Simmulson was the most prolific of their designers in the 1950’s and 60’s with many iconic designs to her name.


Condition
There are 2 vases of the 14.5cm height which are 8cms in diameter. Both are in great condition. This size and a smaller size seem to turn up fairly often. There are then 2 of the slightly rarer 19cm ones which are 11.5cms in diameter. The largest vase is 28.5cms high and 15cms in diameter and seems to be very rarely seen as we couldn’t find one for sale online.


The dish is 32cms in diameter and 5.5cms in height. It’s the larger of the 2 sizes they produced, but it does have a couple of small knocks which could easily be restored.
