Rare Uniflex K Range bedside chest by Peter Hayward

This lovely rare range by Uniflex is often wrongly described as by Gunther Hoffstead as he designed most of their 1960’s pieces but this is definitely by Peter Hayward who designed their late 1950’s pieces . Our time spent going through original copies of The Cabinet Maker came across an article written when the K Range was launched in 1964 where it’s described as by Hayward . We recently saw a part set described as beng teak by a well known auction house , but it’s actually walnut .

The range can’t have been a commercial success as pieces rarely turn up for sale and when they do it’s the dressing tables and low double chests that you usually see . A couple of years ago we had a set which had 2 wardrobes , dressing table and low chest . We could only find one other bedside cabinet shown online . Normally when we find a single we would wait until we found another to make a pair even if it took 3 or 4 years , but these are so rare that we think it’s unlikley we’d ever find another .

The previous owner had a glass top made to protect the surface and this is included .

We also have a matching tall chest which is equally as rare which came with it along with a dressing table .

Condition
In lovely vintage condition with no obvious marks , scratches or damage . As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely .
