We’ve seen this lovely design being sold as Italian even though they usually come fully labelled for Meredew and have seen them in an original late 1950’s Meredew catalogue in our large collection. Apart from their chief designer being the talented Alphons Loebenstein they did claim in one of their catalogues to have used a well known but unnamed famous Italian designer for some of their bedroom furniture at the time. They were a large firm in the 50’s and 60’s mainly making standard pieces but they also produced some really stylish more expensive pieces like these fantastic chairs.

The shaped rosewood ply seats have a lovely grain and are really comfortable . They’ve been fully cleaned and repolished by our in-house time served furniture restorer and they look fantastic.

They’re currently in a cream under-cloth , but our price includes re-upholstery in your choice of fabric by our in-house upholsterer, but excludes fabric. We’ve got accounts with Camira, Abraham Moon and others and can arrange for samples and advise on fabrics if required.

Condition
Fully cleaned and repolished seats, ebonised legs etc in good vintage condition with only slight signs of wear. The worst is shown in the photos. The seats will be upholstered to order in your own fabric.

Notes
These came as a set of 6 , but we also have more of these fantastic chairs, so if you want 8 or even 12 we can clean and upholster them to match at a pro rata rate. It’s a design we really like so have gone out of our way to buy further sets before putting them up for sale.
