Set of 4 Kandya Jason chairs by Carl Jacobs


This iconic design from 1953 initially only came with wooden legs , but they soon started making them with the option of metal legs. We bought this set from the family of the original ( spinster ) owner who at some stage had them badly painted in white. We’ve had them stripped and taken back to the original beech laminate. The metal frames have been professionally sandblasted and re-sprayed.


The clever design means that they’re easy to stack when not in use so they take up little space.


In 1954 Design magazine said ” It is a memorable chair, likely to inspire further developments by other designers and yet still retain its freshness for several decades ”.


It was sold for both domestic and contract use in the 1950’s and early 1960’s.

Condition
As they’ve been stripped you can see that all the laminate seats are in good order with no cracks or damage a problem that can occur if misused ( as is the case with many chair designs ). As with all vintage furniture you do have to expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely.
