This is the rarer short version of this classic British afrormosia teak sideboard by the quality up market maker Fyne Ladye Furniture of Banbury. Afrormosia is sometimes called African teak, but it’s actually a darker wood and not related to teak. Afromosia was popular in the late 1950’s and early 60’s, but it was expensive to use as unlike teak it can’t be cut into thin veneers, so it’s used either in solid or with really thick veneers. This would have been an expensive piece when new and is made using traditional cabinet making techniques which gradually disappeared during the 1960’s to make more affordable pieces.
The shelves are adjustable or removable.
Condition
It’s been cleaned and oiled. There are no obvious marks or scratches, but as with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely.
