https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/pure-imaginationStylish late 1950’s Vanson table and 4 chairs by Peter Hayward
If you’re looking for a comfortable dining chair that’s stylish and different this is the set for you. Peter Hayward was one of the most successful British furniture designers in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s producing many popular designs for W.G.Evans who used Vanson as their trade name as well as for Uniflex.
The incurved edge of the table and the shaping of the chair seat and back is really nice.
The table top has a straight grained sapele veneer which contrasts with the ebonised legs which were particularly popular in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. We reckon this set dates to 1955-58. It came with a Vanson sideboard which was designed in 1954.
Table 136cms x 85cms un-extended, the leaf adds 45.5cms. Table height 73.5cms
Condition
Table top cleaned and oiled, the ebonised finish has been resprayed, so all the woodwork is in good restored condition, see photos for a couple of small dings to edge of table. The chairs have been re-upholstered in a Bute wool fabric. As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some small signs of wear if you look very closely.
