Stylish Stig Lindberg black and white bowl 1950’s


A well known and popular shape which you’ll see relatively often, but not with such a stunning hand painted geometric design as here. Stig Lindberg has to be one of the great ceramic designers of the 20th Century. The lovely elegant shapes that he created added to the amazing patterns and designs, some with great humour make him stand out amongst his contemporaries.


Working for the main Swedish ceramics company Gustavsberg as their chief designer for many years. This beautiful bowl is a faience piece and was painted by Alf Jarnestad who was one 36 decorators working at Gustavsberg at the time.


24.5cms x 18.5cms widest, 19.5cms at highest.


Bought in Sweden in about 2005 it has had some professional restoration. You’ll see a slightly yellowish area to the white exterior in some of the photos. This has been taken into account in our pricing.
