Super large Gloucester sideboard Robert Heritage for Archie Shine


Usually this design came in teak , but this is the more expensive rosewood version . It was made in 2 sizes this 8ft version with drawers to both ends or the shorter 6ft version with 1 set of drawers . Both were known as Gloucester , but we think this one should be called the Double Gloucester !


Robert Heritage was the most successful British furniture designer of his time designing for an amazing number of makers and yet there is no one Heritage look which is a real achievement . All his designs were stylish , but he is best known for his long running collaboration with Archie Shine . Shine started out as a maker of generic reproduction furniture , but turned his medium sized company into an upmarket design led business with the help of Heritage .


Archie Shine was known for his ability to source the best veneers for use in his furniture and also for employing only properly trained cabinet makers .


Condition
Cleaned and oiled with no obvious marks , scratches or other damage . As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely .
