Super large Gloucester sideboard Robert Heritage for Archie Shine


Usually this design came in teak , but this is the more expensive rosewood version. It was made in 2 sizes this 8ft version with drawers to both ends or the shorter 6ft version with 1 set of drawers. Both were known as Gloucester, but we think this one should be called the Double Gloucester !


Robert Heritage was the most successful British furniture designer of his time designing for an amazing number of makers and yet there is no one Heritage look which is a real achievement. All his designs were stylish, but he is best known for his long running collaboration with Archie Shine. Shine started out as a maker of generic reproduction furniture, but turned his medium sized company into an upmarket design led business with the help of Heritage.


Archie Shine was known for his ability to source the best veneers for use in his furniture and also for employing only properly trained cabinet makers.


Condition
Cleaned and oiled with no obvious marks, scratches or other damage. As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely.
