Upsala-Ekeby Nigeria vase by Mari Simmulsen


Mari Simmulsen was a very prolific and successful ceramic designers working in Sweden mainly in the 1950’s and 60’s. Many of her designs for Upsala-Ekeby have become highly sought after today. This is one of her most stylish designs and this is the largest version of the Nigeria vase with incised decoration. It’s very similar in design but not shape to her iconic Paprika series. It was made like so many UE pieces for only a short time ( 1957-60) so it doesn’t appear very often. One seller in the US really rates it as they have the smaller version for sale on First Dibs at over £1000 which we think is far too much as you’ll see by our price.
