VINTAGE ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING


A stylish scene, a simple white porcelain coffee cup, saucer and a glass goblet of water sit on a hexagonal ebonised tray. A large spray of yellow flowers is displayed in a cobalt blue glass vase on a light grey table, with a teal coloured background. There is a distinct Art Deco feel to the scene. If I had to guess, the setting would be an upmarket hotel or chic interior


The painting has been painted in a quick, confident manner with a captivating, expressive energy.


Signed to the lower right ‘W. Visser’ and indistinctly dated, possibly ‘1941’.


In its original and complementary simple gilt frame.


The painting is in good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age. There are a few historic repairs to the canvas, which can be seen verso, but it displays well, and they aren’t very noticeable. The frame also has some minor wear commensurate with age, but no serious issues.


Overall approximate measurements: 74cm high x 69cm wide x 3cm deep.
