A charming French folk art dog painting. The scene depicting a small black terrier chasing a larger fluffy Papillon around the grounds of a French chateau.
Painted in a naive folk art style.
Probably dating to the mid-20th century.
In an earlier yet complimentary deep-set gilt frame dating from the 19th Century.
The painting itself survives without damage however there is a craquelure to the varnish throughout which we think adds to the charm of the painting but could possibly be removed and revarnished by a restorer depending on taste. The frame survives well but there are a few minor losses.
