Item Description
A vintage original Russian oil on canvas painting by Fashion designer, artist and good friend of Francis Bacon and rumoured KGB agent Khudiakova was certainly an interesting character as well as a talented multi-disciplinary creative. She moved to London from Russia just before the collapse of the Soviet Union and her soviet inspired work was collected by Charles Saatchi and Elton John.
She painted quite a lot of still life inspired by soviet advertising and propaganda. This example is her take on a page from Stalin’s Cookbook of the 1950s. Depicting a typical Russian salad along with a jar of the Soviet staple mayonnaise.
