Item Details

A boxed three-piece accessory set in Honba Kihachijō — the celebrated golden-yellow silk handwoven on Hachijō Island, south of Tokyo, and dyed exclusively with plants native to the island. Kihachijō has been prized since the Edo period, when it was paid as tribute to the shogunate, and is today one of Japan's protected traditional crafts.
The set comprises a long clasp wallet (21.5 × 10.5 cm), a handwoven coin purse (8 × 7 cm) bearing its original "tеori" (handwoven) label, and a fan-form pocket mirror, each in the characteristic ochre check shot through with umber and brown. All pieces retain their original presentation boxes with authenticity labels; some appear unused.
The warm, graphic plaid sits beautifully on a dressing table or console — equally at home styled as a vignette of Japanese textile craft or put to daily use.
Condition: very good; partly unused, light storage wear to boxes.
