A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): the genji-guruma (源氏車, the Tale-of-Genji carriage wheel) turning in heavy gold across lacquer-black silk. Envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 30 cm. For lacquer-black drama. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.


Genji-guruma. The carriage wheel of classical Japanese nobility. The ox-drawn carriage of the Tale of Genji — the world's first novel, the symbol of aristocratic refinement — turning here in heavy gold across lacquer-black silk.


Against a deep lacquer-black silk ground — the colour of formal ceremony in the Japanese court — the genji-guruma turns in heavy metallic gold brocade, encircled by the imperial kiku chrysanthemum in burnt orange, vermilion, and pearl white. The black gives the composition its lineage. The gold gives it its turn.


A pillow for ivory linen, cashmere, deep charcoal — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

Dispatched from the Renaras atelier in Amsterdam within two working days, wrapped in tissue and sent in a rigid protective box. United Kingdom: £14, tracked and insured, arriving within three to five working days. All customs charges for United Kingdom deliveries are settled by the atelier; nothing further is payable on arrival. European Union: delivery included, three to five working days. Worldwide delivery on request. Returns are accepted within fourteen days of receipt in original condition; as every textile is singular and unrepeatable, we ask that pieces are handled with care.
