A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): the hōō (鳳凰, phoenix) rising in gold bullion thread across a saturated fuchsia ground — a rare ceremonial colourway. Seamless envelope back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 30 cm. For emerald velvet or ivory, as a single chromatic note. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.


Hōō. The phoenix that rises only in peace. The Japanese phoenix — omen of virtue and divine renewal — woven here in resplendent gold bullion against saturated fuchsia silk.


Against a saturated fuchsia-magenta silk ground — itself a rare colourway in the ceremonial obi tradition, reserved historically for occasions of great jubilation — the hōō ascends in resplendent metallic gold bullion thread. The tension between the fashion-forward magenta ground and the centuries-old gold bullion technique is precisely the point. The fuchsia gives the composition its declaration. The gold gives it its lineage.


A pillow for emerald velvet, ivory upholstery, the single chromatic event in an otherwise restrained room — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

Dispatched from the Renaras atelier in Amsterdam within two working days, wrapped in tissue and sent in a rigid protective box. United Kingdom: £14, tracked and insured, arriving within three to five working days. All customs charges for United Kingdom deliveries are settled by the atelier; nothing further is payable on arrival. European Union: delivery included, three to five working days.
