https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/renarasA hand-knotted mizuhiki crane, made in 2026 at Renaras, an Amsterdam atelier. Mizuhiki (水引) is Japanese paper cord — fine strands of washi, twisted, stiffened and wrapped, used in Japan to bind ceremonial gifts. The crane is the emblem of longevity and good fortune, tied at weddings and at the new year.
White cord forms the open wings and the wrapped, rising neck, with a line of red at the crown. Gold cords fan above and gather below into knotted legs. A deep purple accent sits at the body. One cord becomes wing, neck and tail.
The crane was knotted once, by hand. One piece exists.
Length 28 cm. Mizuhiki paper cord in white, gold, red and deep purple. New, made 2026. Ships flat in a protective sleeve with its printed card, from Amsterdam.
