Item Description
Art Deco serving tray, attributed to Paul Giordano Paris, in rosewood, 1930`s ca, French.
This vintage serving tray has been gently cleaned while respecting the aged patina. It is ready to use.
This tray has the design features of Paul Giordano Paris: luxurious rosewood, geometric lines and tubular curved handles on a rectangular form. His items were typically stamped on the reverse which this tray could be, but it is covered with the original felt.
Structurally there is a rectangular frame made of rosewood joined together at each corner with decorative interlocking detail. The sides raise and curve outwardly at the top to form arched handles. The flat surface has rosewood with a decorative linear grain which highlights the rectangular form. The original clear lacquer finish adds a luxurious gloss effect.
Underneath the tray is padded with the original green felt to protect the furniture below.
This vintage tray is in very good condition for its age. The tone of the rosewood is rich & unfaded. The original lacquer is present and in very good condition, with only a few tiny marks and some rubbing on the handles, in line with age & wear.

The total external dimensions of the tray are: Height: 6 cm, Width: 51.5 cm, Depth: 31.5 cm.

FRENCH ART DECO & PAUL GIORDANO PARIS HISTORY
“Art Deco” was a new wave in visual art that first appeared in France shortly after World War I. The style was influenced by ideas and exotic imagery borrowed from Africa and Asia, but also from the Greek Revival style of the 19th Century. Art Deco embraced the new, epitomising optimism & celebration. The Neoclassical forms executed in luxury materials: marble, rosewood, coromandel, chrome & crystal.
Meubles Paul Giordano were based at 22, Rue Marsoulan, Paris 12eme. He produced quality furniture, lighting & decorative items in the Modernist Art Deco style of the period, from the 1920`s until the 1940`s.
