https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/rustiqueA striking 1945 oil on board by French painter and engraver Albert Flocon (1909-1994), capturing a transforming urban landscape in Toulouse. A crane rises above layered open structures—walls, pillars and construction materials—leading the eye towards a distant bridge and sky. The composition combines strong architectural lines with an almost abstract sensibility, softened by loose brushwork and a warm, earthy palette of pinks, browns, blues and greys.
Albert Flocon (1909–1994) was a Franco-German painter, engraver and teacher, celebrated for his pioneering work in perspective and his role in the revival of engraving in post-war France. After settling in Paris in the 1930s, he became part of the Montparnasse artistic circles and later taught at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he influenced a generation of artists. His work is noted for its fusion of artistic sensitivity with scientific precision.
Signed and dated, and presented in a stained wood frame. A compelling modern cityscape, rich in atmosphere and rhythm.
