Item Details

An 18th-century Dutch Delft dish, decorated with a bird perched on rocks, surrounded by shrubs under a cloudy sky in blue, yellow and manganese. The lip is adorned with a patterned frieze of scrolls and sprays of foliage. Bold brushwork is paired with vibrant colour to create dynamic movement, while characterful details in the rendering of the bird and rocks lend a folk quality to the scene. The underside features a darker ivory glaze.

A Delft country dish with a lively sense of pattern.

  • Diameter: 27 cm

  • Height: 6 cm

  • Some wear and glaze losses to the edge of the dish, commensurate with age. Restored.
