Item Details

A mid-19th-century French gilt gesso mirror of restrained rectangular form with rounded inner moulding. The frame is adorned with outer and inner friezes of classical running foliate ornament.


The silvered plate displays gentle oxidation consistent with age. The gilt surface retains a warm patina with areas of red bole visible beneath.


Typical of the Louis-Philippe neoclassical taste, an elegant mirror of architectural presence and versatile medium proportions, formal yet understated in character.
