Across the water lies a hilltop village topped by a church spire. The distinctive composition uses the sweeping curves of the trees to frame the distant village, their scale contrasting with the smaller figures below. Rendered in an earthy palette of greens, blues and ochres, the painting features characterful details such as the Belle Époque attire of the figures and the distinctive architecture of the village. Dated and located on the reverse, signed on the front, and mounted in a light wood frame. A serene work with captivating scenery.
