A mid-18th century French faience plate from La Rochelle. Decorated with a stemmed rose at the centre, surrounded by buds and foliage, rendered in a vibrant palette of red, green, yellow and blue. The brushwork is delicate yet confident, with a textured quality that animates every detail of the rose. The edge is delicately shaped, the lip adorned with a further spray of flowers. A charming and lively piece of French faience.
