Item Details

An 18th-century French faience plate from Moustiers, decorated in an elegant camaïeu of ochres. It features a wading bird in the Grotesques style, surrounded by florals, bushes and insects. The delicately shaped edge is highlighted by orange lines, while the lip is adorned with flowering branches and further foliage. The lively, refined brushwork animates the sprawling decoration and lends the bird a distinctive expression and dynamic posture. A refined plate with a decor characteristic of Moustiers, marked to the underside.
