Item Details

An armchair by Erich Dieckmann, produced in the 1950s after a design first developed during the 1930s. The bent beechwood frame supports a handwoven sisal cord seat and back, reflecting Dieckmann's belief in combining comfort with the honest use of natural materials.

One of the leading figures of twentieth-century German design, Dieckmann was influenced by the principles of the Bauhaus and is celebrated for furniture that combines functional design with exceptional craftsmanship.

This example retains its original woven sisal, which remains in very good condition. The beechwood frame has acquired a gentle patina with light wear consistent with age.
