French Naïve Landscape, Signed, Mid-20th Century

A wonderfully naïve French landscape, painted in strong, earthy blocks of colour. Rolling fields, haystacks and a distant village church are reduced to simple, almost abstract forms, giving the painting a particularly charming graphic quality.

Oil on canvas, signed lower right, and presented in a bespoke hand-painted wooden tray frame with a wide stepped surround.

A lovely, characterful little painting with a distinctly French rural feel.

H 51cm, W 59cm
