K0467 An unusual French 19th-century wall mirror featuring an elegant cream and water-gilded gold leaf frame. The shaped and beaded border is crowned by an elaborate, deeply carved openwork crest showcasing a central scallop shell flanked by sweeping floral and foliage motifs. The mirror retains its original thick, bevelled-edge glass, which displays a beautifully aged foxing that adds authentic antique character and depth. Having been gently conserved, the frame preserves a desirable portion of its original gold leaf gilding alongside an original cream finish on gesso. Fitted with a four wall brackets and replacement backboard for structural integrity, this striking piece comes in home ready condition.
